There was a time in November 2018 when I had to travel quite a bit. It was, therefore, a good idea to pick up a book to read on the way.
The Book
As trendy as it was at time (in fact, it still is now), this book called “Bitcoin and Blockchain 101” seemed a choice. I was hoping and expecting to learn about blockchain a little bit more than what I had already known.
The Expectation
This book, the authors stated in their preface that it would not be hard to follow and should help readers gain some understanding in the Bitcoin and blockchain technologies. This would be the case for those without any background knowledge at all, they said.
The Review
After reading a few pages, I knew straight away that the book was not my cup of tea. Not that I was not interested in the subject, because I really was. The problem, I found, was the way the authors explained the concept, especially the technical aspects of the technologies. I even thought that some of the details were not even correct.
I was hoping to see the detailed explanation on such things as the components of blockchain or how smart contracts worked. I was disappointed not to see any of these.
How about other stuff in the book? Were they useful? … To me, not really.
Maybe it was just the writing style and the content that were not what I enjoyed. However, I did finish the book.
The Game
At least, I found out that there was a game developed on blockchain called CryptoKitties. If you like cats, you might want to give it a try. The authors said that you would be able to develop your own cat breeds in the game. You could even sell them!
Would I recommend this book to anyone? I will leave it to you to decide. I really don’t want to say. I might get sued. haha!

มีอยู่ช่วงหนึ่ง ในเดือนพฤศจิกายน พ.ศ. 2561 เป็นช่วงเวลาที่เดินทางค่อนข้างเยอะ เลยคว้าหนังสือติดไม้ติดมือไปเล่มนึง เพื่ออ่านระหว่างเดินทาง
ด้วยความที่มันเป็นเทรนด์เน๊าะ เลยหยิบเล่มนี้มา ด้วยความคาดหวังว่า จะได้รู้อะไรเกี่ยวกับ Blockchain มากขึ้น (จริง ๆ ก็ศึกษามาบ้างแล้ว)
หนังสือเล่มนี้ ผู้เขียนบอกในคำนำว่า น่าจะเป็นเล่มที่อ่านไม่ยาก และน่าจะช่วยให้เข้าใจเทคโนโลยี Bitcoin และ Blockchain สำหรับคนไม่มีพื้นฐานได้
ไม่รู้นะ เล่มนี้ อ่านแล้วไม่ถูกใจเท่าไร ฮะฮะ … การอธิบายเชิงเทคนิค ส่วนตัวคิดว่า ออกแนวมั่ว ๆ เนียน ๆ ไม่น้อย … ส่วนที่คิดว่าจะอธิบายจริงเยอะ ๆ เช่น ส่วนประกอบอย่างละเอียดของ Blockchain (ความจริงก็พอรู้แล้วแหละ เพราะอ่านที่อื่นมา) หรือ การทำงานของ Smart Contract ก็เขียนมาน๊อยยย น้อยยยย … น่าเสียดาย
เรื่องอื่น ๆ ในหนังสือล่ะ มีประโยชน์มั๊ย … สำหรับผมแล้ว ไม่ค่อยเท่าไร
คงไม่ใช่สไตล์การเขียน และเนื้อหาที่ชอบมั๊ง เลยคิดแบบนี้ … แต่ก็อ่านจนจบนะครับ
เอาแหละ อย่างน้อยก็ได้รู้ว่า มันมีเกมที่ถูกพัฒนาบน Blockchain ด้วย ชื่อว่า CrytoKitties ใครชอบแมว อาจจะชอบนะเกมนี้ … เป็นเกมที่ผู้เล่นสามารถพัฒนาสายพันธุ์แมวเองได้ (ในเกมนะ) แล้วยังมีการซื้อขายแมวพวกนี้ได้ด้วย
ถ้าถามว่าควรอ่านเล่มนี้มั๊ย … ไม่กล้าตอบ เดี๋ยวโดนฟ้อง ฮะฮะ
